Emotion Blower

Emotion Blower is an interactive sound installation made up of colorful balloons representing 5 emotions: calm, happy, sad, angry and fear. Once an audience speaks to the microphone, emotions are immediately predicted by the system. Balloons are then blown correspondingly following the voice activities.

The work creates interaction between human beings and machines, by utilizing machines, which is supposed to have no feelings, to detect humans emotions, with an aim to explore their relationship in a playful way; meanwhile tells a message—unlike machines, humans have various emotions, include both positive and negative. We do not need to hide any of these emotions, just because we are human.
In this project, EmoVoice, a machine learning framework for real-time emotion recognition based on acoustic features of speech, was employed and classification models were trained using the RAVDESS song dataset.
